Pipe bomb found near Peace Day One concert in Ebrington Square

first_img WhatsApp WhatsApp By News Highland – June 22, 2012 Facebook A pipe bomb has been found during a security alert on the same night as the Peace One Day concert in Derry.The device was found at Rossdowney Road, not far from Ebrington Square in the Waterside where thousands were watching the concert.A number of homes were evacuated during a security alert, however, the Peace One Day concert at in Derry was not disrupted.The Army have taken the device away for examination.The road was cordoned off during the alert.Meanwhile, thousands of people packed Ebrington Square last night for the Global Truce concert.Actor Jude Law hosted the night of music which marked the start of the London 2012 Festival.Pixie Lott, Newton Faulkner, Guillemots and Dublin’s Imelda May headlined the bill that also featured Derry band, the Wonder Villains.
