Ibrahimovic hints on Milan stay extension after 100 games

first_imgZlatan Ibrahimovic has hinted he could extend his stay at AC Milan after stating he ‘hopes to play lots more’ after making his 100th appearance for the club. The striker returned to the San Siro as a free agent in January until the end of the season after leaving LA Galaxy, but he has had clashes with chief executive Ivan Gazidis over the direction of the Serie A side. The 38-year-old has helped improve AC Milan’s form since football resumed and celebrated a century of games during the club’s 3-1 victory over Parma on Wednesday. The striker was awarded a jersey at the club’s training ground to mark the landmark and he made some revealing comments posted in a video on AC Milan’s Twitter page. He said: ‘Thank you all for your congratulatory messages for my 100th appearance in Rossoneri colours. ‘It’s a great honour to play for AC Milan and I hope to play many more games.’ He also joked to his team-mates: ‘Thank you to my teammates I couldn’t have done it without you all. Thankfully I have no competition.’Advertisement FacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmail分享 Loading… The Swedish striker’s future at the club looked to be in the air after an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, in which he said it was unlikely he will remain at AC Milan next season unless there are significant changes at the club. He told the Italian newspaper: ‘Ibra was born to play football and is still the best at playing football. We’ll see how I feel in two months. We’ll also see what’s happening with the club. If this is the situation, to be honest, it’s unlikely you’ll see me at Milan next season. ‘Ibra is not a player for the Europa League and Milan are not a club who belong in the Europa League.’ Paolo Maldini, whose own future as technical director is up in the air, was full of praise for the striker as he handed over a commemorative medal.
