Lindener convicted for possession of narcotics, trafficking

first_imgThe trial of 35-year-old Quacy Giddings on a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking was last Tuesday completed by Linden Magistrate Clive Nurse.Giddings has been accused of having had in his possession 49 grams of cannabis sativa for the purpose of trafficking. The offence was allegedly committed on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Mackenzie market in Linden.Prosecution facts are that Police officers on foot patrol at the Mackenzie market on the day in question observed the accused acting in a suspicious manner, and conducted a search of his person.They unearthed a pink-and-white plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis; nine small Ziplock bags also containing leaves, seeds and stems; and a quantity of empty small Ziploc bags.At his trial, Giddings had opted to give a sworn statement in which he declared his innocence.After the trial, Magistrate Nurse informed him that a prima facie case has been made out against him, and sentence would be passed on June 19.He will make his final court appearance on June 19.last_img
