Hussain delighted with path to Guyana Golf Open 2018

With almost 30 tournaments so far in 2018, Hussain said, 12 additional tournaments are scheduled to tee off prior to the Open Cup.Among those tournament sponsors are Assuria, Scotia Bank, Banks DIH; and for the first time, computer software developers Microsoft. Through their local company, Massy Technologies, the Microsoft brand will sponsor a tournament, and Hussain hinted that the event could become an annual feature between the LGC and Microsoft.The golfer further pointed out that the club registered more than 50 new golfers this past Saturday. The LGC, along with senior club member Maurice Solomon via his company, held the annual tourney. Following the Open, Solomon, who has been a member since 1969, was given honorary life membership of the LGC, having been a member for almost 5 decades; qualifying by virtue of being at least 75 years old; and having at least 25 years’ membership to his credit.Regarding the upcoming Guyana Open, the LGC President has said he expects almost 60 golfers from outside Guyana to participate in the tournament. He noted that it was important to ensure the local crop of golfers preparing for the approaching competition get ideal match-time, as they would need to play hard to ensure the two titles remain with the Guyanese.Hussain also said he is very pleased with the condition of the Greens. He said that since the executive body took over almost a year ago, their focus has been on ensuring that the playing conditions and the atmosphere at the Club are similar to what obtains at overseas courses.Meanwhile, golfers will have more action coming up this weekend.
