Police to begin holiday toy drive WHITTIER – The Police Department kicks off its annual holiday toy drive Sunday. Donations of new toys for needy area children, along with toiletries and supplies for the Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter, are being requested. Collection boxes will be placed at the Whittier Police Department, City Hall, the Whittier Community Center, Whittier Senior Center, the Santa Fe Springs Police Services Center and the Whittier Municipal Employees Credit Union. Residents who wish to receive donations can register at the Whittier Police Department through Dec. 18. Residents must meet federal low-income guidelines.
