Wellington Fire Department stays busy with Barber County fire; Mayfield shed fire

first_imgSumner Newscow report — The Wellington Fire Department sent two firefighters and a brush truck to assist with the grass fire in Barber County. According to a news reporter, he crews left at noon on Wednesday and arrived back home Thursday morning at 5 a.m.Wellington also assisted the Mayfield Fire Department Wednesday afternoon on a fire that destroyed two sheds, a small trailer and numerous other items. Staff also responded to five medical calls and two smoke investigations Wednesday.Sumner County does not have a burn ban unless there is a high wind advisory. But it will take support from the residents to get the three county commissioners to act. This simple open burning permit would sure help our stressed firefighters.
