Well, if you’re Sting, it feels like being “thrown down an elevator shaft,” but he didn’t let his nerves affect him. The Grammy winner spoke with Variety after his first performance as shipbuilder Jackie White in his musical The Last Ship on December 9, 2014: “I kept thinking, ‘What’s the next song? What do I have to say next? What am I wearing?’” Luckily, Sting reports there were “no major car crashes,” and he received a warm welcome from the cheering crowd. His installation is Sunday.Submitted to Sumner Newscow — Calvary Lutheran Church in Wellington at 1300 North C will be celebrating the installation of William Wingfield as the new pastor this Sunday with a 3 p.m. service.Wingfield has moved to Wellington with his wife Vickie and youngest daughter, Vanessa, have moved to Wellington where he will start his first pastorship since graduating from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.“I wanted to comfort people like the comfort I received from the Lord,” Wingfield said. “I think that is the greatest job in the world.”Wingfield worked at the department of music at Kansas State University in Manhattan. He then went into the seminary, where he graduated last spring. “I was brought up a Presbyterian, and wasn’t in church for awhile,” Wingfield said. “When I decided to return to my faith I was looking for a church. I was impressed by how up front the Lutheran-Missouri Synod Church is with their faith and what they believe in. The doctrine is so scriptural with its emphasis of salvation by faith without works. It’s a great gift to be able to preach that to others.”Wingfield will be replacing Pastor Michael Wolff, who accepted a call in Nebraska in June 2013.Follow us on Twitter.last_img read more
